our baby shower was a smashing success! mike and i had a great time and we received so many beautiful and thoughtful gifts; it was almost overwhelming. many thanks to our co-hostesses, julie and mary a. here are some pictures from the event.

the baby shower made both me and mike realize that WE'RE DOING IT -- we're having a baby. of course, we both knew this fact intellectually, but sitting in a room full of people and opening presents for the baby really drives the point home, much more so than anything else we've done so far. maybe not so much the *fact* that we're having a baby, but what our new responsibilities will be. i think this is because many of the gifts were practical in nature, e.g., books about going to bed (uhh... will bedtime be an "issue"?), a boppy pillow to help with feeding (oh ya, i guess holding a 10+ pound infant in the crook of your arm for 20 minutes *would* get tiring), bath stuff (how long before she starts bathing herself? 7 years? 8 years? oh my...). if we didn't know it before, we definitely know it now: we're newbies! we're green! we don't know what we're in for! i apologize in advance to both my daughter and her therapist.

we don't have much longer to go now... probably only 9 weeks since it's looking more and more likely that i'll be delivering via c-section. my last day at work is may 30th; my mom arrives on june 8; and the c-section will be scheduled for the week of june 11th. the countdown is on!
