mike and i officially hate our childbirth preparation classes and we still have three more to go. ugh. the problem is
our teacher -- she's annoyingly opinionated yet frustratingly disorganized. she loves to repeat over and over again
the same two pieces of anecdotal evidence that support her personal theory of natural childbirth.
i think the two of us would rather be sleeping-in on saturday morning than sitting in hard-backed chairs,
hearing:
the story of her daughter-in-law who didn't listen to her body and had to have a c-section when her third child
was born. [story proves that doctors know nothing, mothers know everything, and if her daughter-in-law had believed
in herself she would have figured out the baby was breech and been able to turn it herself using a single floor exercise that
our instructor refers to as "get on the floor and rock rock".]
the story of her daughter who didn't want to be induced so she labored at 3 centimeters for 3 days, going out
to dinner for thai food on the 2nd day and doing pelvic rocks and breathing exercises while leaning against the table in
the restaurant. [story proves that if you go to the hospital too early they will want to induce your labor and that is
unnatural, and any alternative is preferrable, even if it means being in labor so long you no longer care that an entire
restaurant is now filled with people wishing they had stayed home for dinner rather than gone out and caught the viewing of
what they hope won't be the public birth of your child.]
according to online sources, the baby now weighs approximately 3.25 pounds and her chances for survival if she comes early
are greater than 95%. that's pretty good!
