one more week before i return to work. i'm very grateful for the extra couple of weeks i took off. life with a new baby was pretty crazy up until she was about six weeks old. don't get me wrong -- it's still crazy -- but at least i now feel like i have a handle on the craziness.
basically, my life is all about prioritization, organization, and multi-tasking. i don't know why any employer wouldn't immdediately hire a woman who has been a stay-at-home mom, even if she's been out of the workforce for a number of years. do you know how hard it is to "run" a home, take care of kid(s), and keep your marriage intact while doing it? it takes a lot of work. a woman should be able to list those accomplishments on her resume!
the most important thing to me is how i prioritize my time, and how i prioritize my time is based on what's most important to me. [if that makes any sense at all.] here are the things that are most important to me at this moment in my life:
having a healthy relationship with mike
taking care of [and enjoying] emily
keeping up with the laundry [no joke]
getting back to my pre-pregnancy weight and shape
maintaining at least a nominal level of cleanliness in my home
writing in my journal at least once a week
promptly writing thank you notes
this list is in order of importance, and how i decide to fill the minutes of my day is based on this list. for example, when emily takes a nap i will do twenty minutes on the stairmaster before i take the time to write a journal entry. or, after feeding emily, the first thing i do every morning is finish/start a cycle of laundry. [at any give time at my house there's a load in both the washer and the dryer. laundry is a constant. this is why the thought of my new laundry room makes me so happy.]
this list is subject to constant change, although mostly things just get added to it. when i return to work, work will be on the list, probably somewhere after laundry and before cleaning the house.
weight loss update: 34 pounds down, 19 pounds to go. julie asked me what i was doing to lose the weight. i told her, "eating less." also, i'm breastfeeding, which burns approximately 500 calories a day, and i'm exercising daily. nothing magical, except maybe the breasfeeding. :)
xoxo
