6.17.04

it's 9:08 AM here in sunny san mateo and i just put miss emily rose down for her morning nap. she takes two naps a day: 9 AM and 2 PM. she'll sleep 1 to 2 hours each nap -- not bad.

baby update: yesterday i had my amniocentesis and a detailed ultrasound. the ultrasound was pretty cool. the baby was very active and all of his/her parts -- kidneys, head, stomach, heart -- looked good. the doctor commented that the baby has big feet; maybe this baby will look more like me! i told the technician we didn't want to find out the sex and she had me look away when she got to the private parts. we have a couple of good pictures; i'll post them as soon as i scan them. the technician commented that the baby was, "very photogenic."

the amnio was less than pleasant, but it reminded me that not everything about having a baby is fun, e.g., labor and delivery. we find out the results of the amnio in two weeks. i hope everything is OK.

weight gain update: up 13.5 pounds to 155

decorating update: i've got about 5 more feet of wall to paint in emily's room. it's nearly impossible for me to paint during the week; i'll have to finish it this weekend. and even though i'm not done painting/installing the chair rail in emily's room, i'm also going to start painting the kitchen this weekend. i want to get the major painting projects done while i'm still physically able and mentally willing to do them.

here's a picture of emily in her new bedroom. in this picture you can see how well the walls i've painted match her outfit from auntie mary and cousin megan. also notice the curtains i made for her french doors; i really like the way they turned out. AND, last but not least, emily is standing in front of her collection of beanie babies that arrived in the mail from my aunt fran yesterday. whew! this picture covers a lot of ground. :)
