i realized while painting this past weekend that i really love my paintbrush. it's a 1.5 inch "purdy" brush with angled bristles and an unfinished wood handle. i got it at home depot. it's perfect. i've used it to paint the trim of 8 rooms and it hasn't failed me once. i understand this brush so well that i no longer need painter's tape to ensure a clean line against trim and ceilings; all i need is my brush. the handle has a few bite marks from when i held the brush in my teeth while going up and down the ladder. when i am done with a day's painting i clean my brush with warm water and sometimes a bit of dish soap. then i shake it dry and smooth its bristles into shape. roller covers may come and go, but a good brush only improves with age. painters know this. i love this brush. i told mike i want to be buried with this brush.

i am done painting. i painted 8 rooms including a foyer. i did not go whale watching. i dropped out of playgroup. i missed my friend's baby shower. i declined to attend more than one casual family get-together. my best friend is my paint brush. but i painted 8 rooms including a foyer. and now i am done.

on to packing.
