8.19.04

i turned 36 years old on monday. old lady! mike, emily, and i celebrated on tuesday with a steak dinner at black angus. mmmm... garlic mashed potatoes and chocolate cake. yum! we eat so few carbs now that mashed potatoes are a real treat.

i've been feeling like a slug lately now that i no longer am packing, moving, and painting so today emily and i took a long walk and then spent 15 minutes doing stretches. it felt good. emily thought it was pretty funny when i was doing my stretches on the floor. kids make you feel good; you can amuse them without even trying.

emily update: emily did two cool things yesterday. Yesterday morning she helped me make my bed. i was fluffing the pillows and she pounded on a pillow on the floor and then tried to haul it onto the bed. then she went across the room and picked up my throw pillow and brought it over to me. Later, when mike came home, he mentioned the word "feet" and emily touched her foot! She did this several more times, each time we said the word "foot". That was fun, but now she won't do it. It was either a fluke or she's tired of the trick.

pregnancy update: i'll be 25 weeks pregnant tomorrow. i can tell the baby is getting bigger because i can feel him move all of the time. he seems to be more active than emily was. tomorrow morning we have a routine doctor's visit and next week we have another ultrasound scheduled. they want to check the location of the placenta in relation to my cervix; they think i might have another case of marginal placenta previa. whatever. i'm sure everything will be fine and the placenta will move up as it did last time.
