i've been feeling big, heavy, tired, and blah lately. maybe it's because i'm carrying a 2 pound squirming thing in my belly. a month ago i took delight in telling people that i was in the honeymoon phase of my pregnancy. now i'm in the third trimester and the honeymoon's over. the third trimester of pregnancy is like 3 months of bad hair days, days where nothing is right and everything's blah. ironically enough, my hair has probably never looked better; one of the side effects of being pregnant is that you stop losing your hair. well, my hair would look good if i took the time to take care of it. the third trimester is also the time when i stop getting my hair done. yes, it's a strange time. i'm thrilled at the prospect of adding a son to our family and scared as hell at the thought of what having a newborn again will mean. the sleepless nights. the nursing that never stops. the endless walking. sometimes i think about labor and delivery but only as an event to look forward to. i'm positive i'll survive and the process is much shorter than the gestation period.

mike did something cool in his blog. he made a list of all of the people he's lost touch with over the years, going back to grammar school. now if they ever do a vanity search [and who hasn't], they'll find themselves on his page. then they'll write him an email and all of the loose ends in his life will be tied up. it's really quite a brilliant plan. i would do it except i can't remember the name of the woman who cuts my hair every couple of months let alone the names of people i haven't seen in 20 or 30 years. for fun, i will now reveal my maiden name and maybe somebody who remembers my name will find me and send me an email. i know the odds of somebody remembering their own name are far greater than the odds of that person remembering mine, but here goes:

my maiden name is mary spivey.
i attended whittier elementary school in oak park, illinois; travis elementary school in houston, texas; and river oaks elementary school in houston, texas.
i then attended burnet junior high in austin, texas; clayton valley high school in concord, california; hyde park gate school in pleasant hill, california; and acalanes high school in lafayette, california.
i started my college education in 1986 at chico state in chico, california and ended it in 2000 at san francisco state in san francisco, california.
