We're gonna make it to the church
We're gonna make it to the church on time
We're gonna leave all of our troubles behind
We're gonna make it to the church on time

on the morning of jennie's wedding i realized that if i was going to have any energy for her actual wedding, i needed more sleep. mike took care of emily and i slept until noon. heaven! then it definitely was time to get up, get emily dressed for her role as flower girl, and pack the car with lots of pretty flowers.

the transporting of the flowers. mike loaded up the car and did a great job. the 15 centerpieces took up the entire back cargo area of our honda pilot. it was wall-to-wall flower arrangements -- quite a sight! we bundled the altar vases up in towels and put them on the floor of the back seat. the welcome table arrangement went on the floor in the front seat. the bridesmaids bouquets were the trickiest because they were the most fragile. we kept them upright using drinking glasses, wrapped the glasses in towels, and put the arrangements in boxes, 2 to a box. the boxes went on the back seat next to emily.

and we were off!

once we got to the wedding, the groom and his groomsmen helped us unpack our load and all of a sudden i had no flowers to think about at all; the flower-making saga was over. the flowers looked beautiful on the tables and i was happy that the bridesmaids bouquets went well with jennie's bouquet, which was made by a professional florist. here is a picture of jennie and her bridesmaids.

coming up. post-wedding flower making reflections -- what worked, what didn't.
